Student Mental Health Advocates
The BHS Student Mental Health Advocates (SMHA) are mental health support leaders. Together we learn, discuss, and train students on topics related to: youth mental health, identifying positive coping mechanisms, and developing a sense of belonging for BHS students. A BWC certification is available to students who participate in 10 meetings and complete a small project.
The SMHA’s strive to advocate for supportive policies and to connect students with vital resources — all with the goal of better serving BHS students’ mental health.
Student Mental Health Advocates is advised by Dani Topaz, BWC Program Assistant, and Brittany King, Guidance Counselor at Belmont High School.
